The concept of Kindergarten and lower Elementary Classes at German ISD uses the dual immersion teaching strategy. The day is split and separated into two languages: English and German. One teacher speaks only English for part of the day, and the other will be taught in German.

Primary Purpose

Native English speaking Teacher who provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area as- signed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Kin- dergarten (TEKS) standards.

The position is a part time job, daily from Monday to Friday from 9  a.m. to 3 p.m. Start: August 2018

Qualifications

Education/Certification:
* Bachelor’s degree from Accredited University
* Valid Texas teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Native English Speaker
* Open to multi culture traditions
* Being part of a young, energetic team
* Focus on successful teamwork with the Co- (German) Teacher

* Knowledge of core academic subject assigned

Zum momentanen Zeitpunkt werden in dem deutschen Kindergarten über 70 Kinder im Alter von 18 Monaten bis 5 Jahren betreut und in deutscher Sprache unterrichtet. German ISD arbeitet nach dem Prinzip „Full-German Immersion“ und orientiert sich dabei am Bayerischen Bildungs- und Erziehungsplan für Kindertagesstätten.

Mit Beginn des neuen Schuljahres suchen wir ab Mitte August 2017 eine engagierte, deutschsprachige Erzieherin, welche unsere erste Vorschulklasse (5 – 6-jährige Kinder) in der Zusammenarbeit mit der englisch sprachigen Lehrkraft leitet.
Für die Erweiterung und den ersten Schritt in Richtung Grundschule, integrieren wir den TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills) und unterrichten den ersten Jahrgang Kindergarten nach dem Prinzip der Dual-Immersion (englisch/deutsch).

Lead teacher / Erzieherin
POSITION SUMMARY

The Early Education Lead Teacher is responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include toddlers and/or preschool age children; develops partnerships with birth parents/child’s caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation in program. Lead Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with codes of all State and local governing contracting agencies; and works collegially with other staff members of German ISD.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, weekly plans, and implements age appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care.
  • Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth.
  • Perform on-going developmental evaluations of children as required by funding sources and develop lesson plans and follow curriculum implementation that addresses the individual needs of each child.
  • On an on-going basis, plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment in the classroom to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child.
  • Provide responsive care to all children by adapting daily care giving routines and plans to the interests and needs of the individual child and the group.
  • Prepare developmental progress reports as needed.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the child’s background by incorporating the cultural, linguistic and familial values and beliefs into the childcare program and lesson plans.
  • Exchange information and serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary intervention/prevention team.
  • Completes child transition and orientation of the classroom with parents.
  • Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/ caregivers.
  • Provide a classroom environment that encourages parent participation.
  • Assist families with children’s transitions from toddler to preschool and from preschool to kindergarten.
  • Assures a healthy, safe, clean and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
  • Ensures that the Assistant Teachers are kept updated in all matters concerning the classroom and program, i.e. Lead Teacher Meetings, lesson plans, policies & procedures, training received.

Tasks

  • Discuss assigned duties with lead teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Nursing activities
  • Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations.
  • Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
  • Assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, school yards, and gymnasiums.
  • Conduct demonstrations to teach such skills as sports, dancing, and handcrafts.
  • Distribute teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students
  • Enforce administration policies
  • Organize and supervise games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development.
  • Participate in teacher-parent conferences regarding students’ progress or problems.
  • Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching methods.
  • Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required.
  • Cooperate with the lead teacher in a professional manner.
  • German native speaker.
